Steam distillation is an easy and very popular way to take out natural essential oils from plants, trees, flowers, fruits, seeds, and many other things.
In this process, we put the plant parts—like leaves, bark, buds, or fruits—inside big steam boilers. Then we heat the boiler a lot. When the steam goes through the plant parts, the helpful oil inside the plant comes out. The tiny oil droplets travel up with the hot steam.
After that, the steam and oil go into another container where they cool down. When they cool, the steam turns back into water, and the oil separates from the water. We can then collect the pure essential oil.
