Refractive Index

The Refractive Index is another important physical test that helps us check if an essential oil is pure and good in quality. It is a special number that shows how the oil reacts when light passes through it. When light moves very fast and enters the oil, the oil bends the light. This bending helps us understand more about the oil.

The Refractive Index tells us how much the speed of light changes when it goes through the oil. Some oils bend the light a little, and some bend it more. By measuring this change, we can learn if the oil is pure, mixed, or not made correctly. Because each oil has its own unique refractive index, scientists use this number to check if the oil is real and of good quality.
